Our first impression of our hotel in Gouves (pronounced you vess) was
not great. It was not on the beach. After realizing that there was a
path down to a nice little beach, we were relieved. Also, there were
a bunch of French travelers at our hotel that would stare at us. We
felt like unwanted guests. We stayed away from the hotel as much as
possible. Chania (pronounced hawn ya) was a great town. Worth the drive.
The highways on Crete were even scarier than the man land. Dad did a
great job adapting. Agios Nikolaos was a smaller town, but equally as
beautiful. The water was much warmer in Crete than Santorini.
